This past weekend was just a perfect example of what I love about this place. One of my hopes has always been that the studio would be a community and a supportive place for all women. With the help of our members and staff, that is exactly what it has become.
Friday night we hosted a Pole Showcase. This is a time when many of our pole students and staff can showcase what they have learned to family and friends. These always bring me to tears just watching how far they have all come. The support they show each other and the bravery it takes to get up and perform in front of others. I'm in awe every time.
There were all different types of performances. From super sexy, to sweet and graceful, to clever and very hard! We even had one of our beautiful pregnant mama's perform, showing just how strong she was. These women ranged in age and all come from different walks of life. There was the bad ass veteran, the mom of 5, the therapist, the student, and so many others. They didn't fit into a box and showed off their own unique beauty and style.
Our instructors worked so hard helping to put this all together and Laurel, who heads this up, out did herself. To say I was proud us an understatement. Watch for clips of the performances on our social media.
On Saturday morning I shifted gears and headed to PIR for the annual Girls on the Run 5k. We do the warm up for these girls every year and this year was by far the biggest! It was packed with strong young girls ready to show what they could do. They were so excited for our instructors to warm them up and several came to meet us all before they started so they could learn the dances ahead of time.
There were 5 stages amidst a sea of girls with 5 DIVAS , Sidnie, Adrianna, Molly, Caitlynn and Dani Jo who brought her daughter on stage with her. Watching all these young girls have a blast being free and dancing was amazing. I love this event and love being a part of it. I'm so grateful our strong female instructors that took time out on their Saturday morning to help inspire all these young women. I saw some future DIVAS in that crowd!
Two very different events, both so fun and full of community. Thank you DIVAS for being so cool. Much love to all of you!
