"Artists lead unglamorous daily lives of discipline and routine, but their work is full of passion. Each has a vision and feels responsibility to that vision."
My name is Kristin and I am one of the owners of Diva Den Studio. How did I get here? I've always had a love for dance and fitness and anytime I could combine the two i was happy. Several years ago I was taking an amazing Hip Hop class from my friend Kili Marti. I LIVED for Thursday nights just to take her class and have fun while working out. I would show up early with my girlfriend and we would secure our spots at the front of the class, and for an hour, we felt like video vixens. We could escape our usual routine of weight lifting, running, cycling, etc. You know, fitness that works, but isn't quite as fun.
Unfortunately, Kili had to leave the club where we were to pursue other things. I found myself searching for something else. Classes that were "Out of the Box." Something where I could let loose and have fun all while burning calories. I begged my club to add different classes but it didn't fit in with the mold and wouldn't work they said. So, I continued searching. Then my darling cousin invited me to try a pole dancing class. Of course I was thrilled! Something different! So off we went, and who knew, I would instantly feel the way I did. In love with pole dancing!

The movement came natural and I knew this would not be the end of my pole dancing career. So I went home and called my husband, who happened to be out of town. When I asked what he thought of me buying a pole, he couldn't answer fast enough. "YES!" So that I did. I put up my pole and began to practice. I am mostly self taught with the help of a few others along the way.
I began to teach at a few small fitness studio's around town and loved every second of it. I watched as pole studio's started to pop up around town and was proud of these women for doing it. I contacted Summer when she opened her 82nd studio. Mostly because I loved meeting other women that were as passionate about this as I was. We kept in touch and as soon as she decided to move to the Westside, I came on board.
Summer and I instantly bonded over our similar stories. We soon found that while we were so different, we worked together really well. We complimented each other and we became fast friends. One night we were at the studio late dreaming about how someday we would have a big studio together. Little did we know that we would actually make that happen in less than a year. Through a ton of hard work we did it! We have our "Out of the Box" studio that we both always wanted. Now all the classes I wanted to take, are all under one roof.
My favorite part about teaching Pole dancing is how it helps women get their groove back. I get it! I am a happily married mother of three darling children. While I love that part of my life, its easy to forget about yourself and to forget how to feel sexy. I love to see women of all ages and sizes come into my class and transform over the weeks to that former confident sexy woman they once were. Its a beautiful thing. I feel blessed with all the truly amazing women that have come into my life through this whole journey.
